Have winter break plans for the kids yet? We’ve got you covered.
At LPLC, our goal is to help families in Bastrop and surrounding counties find meaningful and enriching activities year-round, and our Winter Camps Guide section is designed for exactly that over the upcoming holidays.
Whether you’re trying to narrow your focus to just a few camp options or just starting your search and have no idea what’s out there, this post will give you the info you need to make sure your kids have the best possible break.
Already in the Guide
We’ve pulled together four standout options, and we’re keeping watch for more so you don’t have to dig through dozens of individual announcements.
Bastrop Parks & Rec Mini Camp – Discovery Days: Time Machine! This camp by Bastrop Parks & Rec runs Dec 29-31 from 9a-12p, and they are inviting kiddos ages 6-12 to “Blast into the Past, Present & Future!” What does that mean? The camp includes crafts, games, and experiments exploring the beginning of time into the future. BP&R camps tend to have limited availability and fill fast, so don’t wait if you’re interested.
Bastrop ISD STARS Winter Camps. BISD offers its weekly STARS camp during the summer, with locations at Mina, Emile, and Cedar Creek Elementary. When enrollment reaches 20 or more students, they also open camps over school holiday breaks. Breakfast and lunch are provided, and families send snacks from home. Registration is available online.
Pathways Gymnastics. Their upcoming Winter Break Camps for ages 4-12 run December 29 and 30 and January 2 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with optional early drop-off at 9 AM and late pick-up until 3 PM. All activities are designed to support movement, coordination, and healthy brain development.
Gravity District. A fitness and performing arts studio offering a Mother’s Morning Out Program on Mondays and Thursdays, various youth classes, and seasonal camps. This studio will open a holiday camp based on community need and interest. So if you want a winter camp, call to join their camp wait list! It’s a welcoming space for all ages and skill levels to build strength, confidence, and creativity.
Other Active Options We’ve Discovered
Here are other camp opportunities that you may be interested in learning more about:
N3Xt Athletics Free Clinics and Winter Sunday Skill-Building. If your little one is interested in basketball or volleyball, N3XT is offering free clinics in December. Not exactly over the break, but available in Smithville this year! You can register for basketball or volleyball clinics happening December 7 and 14, and volleyball has an additional clinic on the 21st. Kids can only go to one clinic for each sport. If they enjoy themselves, N3XT has ongoing skill-building + scrimmage sessions throughout the winter on Sundays for ages 7-15.

Spike Frog Volleyball Camp. Held at the Bastrop Middle School gym and coached by former Bastrop High School volleyball player Sarah Ghormley, the camp runs December 29 and 30 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Open to boys and girls in grades 2–8. Campers should bring a packed lunch, and space is limited, so families may want to register early, as this one is likely to fill up fast.

Wild Child Bastrop Winter Camp. A five-day winter break camp for ages 3-8 combining movement, creativity, and hands-on fun. Running December 29 through January 2, the camp features a daily mix of Ninja Training, Music, and Arts & Crafts led by Wild Child’s energetic coaching team. Kids will stay active, engaged, and connected while building strength, confidence, and friendships in a warm and supportive environment. A potentially great option for families looking for a playful, creative winter break experience that keeps little ones happy and moving.
Bonus Activities (not dropoff events!):

Winter Warm Up 2025: Single Day Soccer Clinic. On Saturday, December 20th from 9:30-11:30a, Bastrop County Cares partnered with MLS star Ariel Lassiter to host a single-day soccer clinic for Bastrop’s soccer community. FREE for all ages. Location TBD. Sign up via flyer QR code. Guardians must be present for the entire clinic.
Lockhart State Park Homeschool Classes. Nature-based, hands-on experiences for families that want to explore, learn, and engage in conservation activities together. Perfect if you’re looking for something intentional and shared. Added Bonus: Sneak peek into one way homeschool families in our area learn about the world around them.
Colorado River Refuge Winter Solstice Walk. The K.I.N.D. Group is inviting you on a peaceful, reflective guided walk to honor the shortest day of the year. Held on December 21 from 5-7 PM, the experience invites participants to enjoy the quiet winter landscape, celebrate the turning of the season toward longer days, and take a calming pause amid the rush of December. Located at 793 TX-71 in Bastrop, it’s a gentle way for families and nature lovers to slow down, connect, and welcome winter.
